András Németh: Educational reforms in Austria and the beginnings of pedagogy as an academic discipline

There exists a specific trend within the historical models in the development of European educational sciences, dominated by German educational thought and characterized by a strong phylosophical orientation. It is also influenced by the fact that pedagogy became an academic discipline relatively early, at the end of the 18th century. The paper studies the model of reception of this specifically Central-European science of education at the Austrian universities. It describes the emergence and the specific features of its early institualization in the first stage of its development, – from the last third of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century.
